The second is the heated debate that erupted in Lima regarding free trade, among various thinkers and members of the Consulate Tribunal. The third is the anonymous publication in Buenos Aires of the text written by José de la Riva Agüero y Sánchez Boquete, entitled "Historical and Political Manifesto of the Revolution of America," in which he outlines twenty-eight causes justifying the insurgency against the Spanish regime in America. Through the parallel development of the three themes, the viewer is given an idea of what was happening that year in Peru, on the road to the proclamation of independence in 1821.
