Use GoodWatch in your AI assistant

Add GoodWatch to Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code and other AI apps. Then ask what to watch next, sort your Wishlist by how well it fits you, or log what you just watched, in your own words. It works with your GoodWatch account: your ratings, your shows, your streaming services. See what it looks like in a chat.

Your GoodWatch address

Every app asks for this. You then sign in with your GoodWatch account and allow the app once.

https://goodwatch.app/mcp

You need a free GoodWatch account. Sign up if you don't have one yet.

Pick your app

Tested means we connected GoodWatch with that app ourselves. Should work means we followed the app's own setup guide but haven't tried it yet. Any other app that supports remote MCP connectors with sign-in can use the same address.

Claude

Tested

Tested on claude.ai in a browser, October 2026. The desktop and phone apps should work too: they use the same connectors.

Open Claude's connector settings(opens in a new tab)

Or on claude.ai, open Customize, then Connectors.

  1. Press + Add, then Add custom connector.
  2. Name it GoodWatch, paste the address and press Continue.
    https://goodwatch.app/mcp
  3. Keep the sign-in settings Claude suggests and press Add.
  4. Press Connect next to GoodWatch. GoodWatch opens: sign in and press Allow.
  5. In a chat, press +, then Connectors, and switch GoodWatch on.

On your phone

Add GoodWatch on claude.ai or in the desktop app first. It then shows up in the Claude app on your phone, on the same account, with nothing more to set up.

On a Team or Enterprise plan

An owner of your organization adds GoodWatch once, under Organization settings → Connectors. Then everyone presses Connect under Customize → Connectors and signs in with their own GoodWatch account.

Who can use it: Every plan. Free has room for one custom connector. On Team and Enterprise, an owner adds it first. Checked October 17, 2026.

What you'll see

  1. Step 1: Sign in to GoodWatch

A GoodWatch page opens in your browser. Sign in the way you always do, with your email or with Google.

  2. Step 2: Choose what it may do

Pick Read and change my GoodWatch so the app can log watches and rate titles, or Read-only. Then press Allow.

  3. Step 3: Find it in Settings

The app shows up in Settings → Connected apps, where you can disconnect it any time.

Things to ask

  • “what should i watch next”
  • “what on my wishlist would i love most”
  • “something like arrival but lighter”
  • “anything good on netflix tonight”
  • “just watched severance s2e4”
  • “score dune 2 with 9”

In Claude and some other apps, answers come with poster cards; others show text only. If you don't say when you watched something, GoodWatch saves the watch without a date. Your assistant finds titles by name as often as you like; searching by description (“slow sci-fi like arrival”) is limited to 20 searches a day.

What a connected app can do

It can see

  • Your ratings, Wishlist and Not interested titles
  • What you've watched and where you are in each show
  • Your taste profile and recommendations
  • Your country and streaming services

It can change

  • Log what you watched, and remove a watch
  • Rate titles and mark them Not interested
  • Add titles to your Wishlist and remove them
  • Set a show to Watching, On hold or Dropped
  • Change your country and streaming services

It can never

  • See your email address or password
  • Change your password or delete your account
  • Connect other apps

The assistant decides when to use GoodWatch, based on what you ask. Removing a watch, clearing a rating or changing your services is something your app may ask you to confirm first. How the app's maker treats what it reads is up to their privacy policy; ours explains what GoodWatch keeps.

Disconnect an app

On GoodWatch, open Settings → Connected apps and press Disconnect. The app loses access right away. Nothing you saved on GoodWatch is lost. Claude Code gets one line per computer, so you can disconnect one without the others.

Then remove GoodWatch in the app too: in Claude, Customize → Connectors → Remove; in ChatGPT, remove the plugin; in a terminal app, for example claude mcp remove goodwatch.

If something doesn't work

My assistant says GoodWatch isn't connected, or stopped working after an update.

Connect again from the app: in Claude, Connect under Customize → Connectors; in a terminal app, run its sign-in command again. Your GoodWatch data stays as it was.

New GoodWatch features don't show up.

Apps remember GoodWatch's list of tools from when you connected. Start a new chat first. If that doesn't help, refresh the tool list: in ChatGPT, open the GoodWatch plugin and press Refresh; in Claude, disconnect and connect GoodWatch again; in Cursor or VS Code, turn GoodWatch off and on in the MCP settings.

I can't find a place to add a custom connector.

Your plan or workspace may not allow it. As of October 17, 2026: Claude Free has room for one custom connector, and on Team or Enterprise an owner adds it. ChatGPT allows full access on Business, Enterprise and Edu, read-only on Pro, and only on chatgpt.com in a browser. Plans change, so check the app's own help, linked under each guide.

It reads my GoodWatch but can't change anything.

When you connected, you may have picked Read-only. Disconnect the app in Settings → Connected apps, connect it again and pick Read and change my GoodWatch. On ChatGPT Pro, connectors can only read (as of October 17, 2026).

The sign-in page opens, but the app never finishes connecting.

Update the app and try again. For desktop and terminal apps, the browser has to run on the same computer, and the browser may ask whether to open the app: allow it. Never paste a code or key from the sign-in into an email to anyone.

It says “too many requests”.

A connected app can ask GoodWatch 60 times a minute and 1,000 times an hour. Wait a minute and ask again.

GoodWatch calls the app unverified.

Some apps don't publish who made them, so GoodWatch can't check. Only allow the app if you started the connection yourself, in an app you trust.
